The most dangerous 8 seconds in sports

In an effort to expand out to other sports, and in an effort to put a music video on the blog so Emma will watch it, I recently watched an episode of ESPN's Outside the Lines that explored the danger of Bull Riding (The full video can be viewed here http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:6628556)

Recently the danger of Bull Riding has come under increasing criticism including a recent study entitled "Bull riding most dangerous sport: study" (creative). The study was performed by Dale Butterwick of the University of Calgary's Faculty of Kinesiology. As part of his study Dale complied a Catastrophic Injury Registry, starting back in 2007. The study reports that Bull Riders suffered 49 catastrophic rodeo injuries between 1989 and 2009, including 21 fatalities, more than any other professional sport. So as the song goes, "Mama's don't let your boys grow up to be Cowboys."

In an effort to make a serious post a little lighter, I also recently came across a video that shows that riding animals can be dangerous, but you can also be very successful if you understand your abilities, and have a cool theme song. Enjoy the music video Emma (by the way if you are not familiar with Emma's blog you can view it at http://thelastmonsivais.blogspot.com/)
